Think online marketing is a closed loop? Meet Thor.

I really, really wanted to do this discussion with my friend and client Thor Holt — creator of Outsource Fitness and The Gut Gone Guy — because Thor, as a fitness expert who doesn’t teach anyone how to make money, breaks the “closed loop” of internet marketing. He proves that this online business stuff that so many of us talk about all the time doesn’t just apply to businesses that teach people how to teach other people about business, so that those people can go out and teach other people about business… and so on into infinity.

And I wanted to do video instead of my usual audio because… well, you’ll see.

Let’s just say that Thor has the personality required for my style of marketing. Enjoy!

    Hey Johnny B.

What a great interview! I gotta be honest, lately I’d been thinking that online marketing really was the closed loop you described in your post. I’ve read a bazillion posts about how to make money online, but this is the first one that actually talked about a product other than how to make money online. Holy crap, that sentence sounds strange.

I’m a fan. Keep up the good work.

  2. Johnny says:

Yeah, that’s exactly why I wanted to do this one. There’s a super-easy — and often quite true — perception that the only stuff out there will tell you how to tell others how to make money online.

    Glad you dug it!

  3. Genna says:

Really loved this call & have new crushes on both you Johnny & Thor [which is like the best name eva]

Pity I had to wait overnight for it to load, which it did & I was watching away merrily, got about half way through & stupidly decided to have a quick peep at Johnny’s storytelling product only to discover that when I returned to the video, it had started the buffering process from scratch.

Cue much filthy, dirty, heathen, Scottish, sweary rants from me.

But never fear, I loved it enough to stick with it while it buffers away for the next hour or so and then I can complete my crushing on you both.

  4. Johnny says:

I cannae understand how you can abide that internet connection.

Glad you enjoyed. We had a hell of a lot of fun recording it!

  5. Genna says:

Loving the use of the word ‘cannae’ there Johnny, we’ll make an honorary Scot of you yet!

  6. Thor says:

I’m think that you are soundin maer Scottish than either Genna or me JT!

The video wouldnae play on iphones which got me a complaint from a certain brother of mine… some complaint about flash player… can it be uploaded to youtube as they usually hae nae problems?

  7. Johnny says:

It’s too long for YouTube, brother… they allow a max of 10 minutes.

  8. People have to realize you can make money without showing people how to make money..There are many niche market out there you can tap into..

    Hey Johnny-

Thanks for filming this video! I have to agree, you don’t hear much about people outside of the internet biz. Good info, Thor’s a classic!

  10. Hey Johnny – great interview. Loved it.

Thor – Your whole concept of using micro-sessions and small steps to reach your goals is exactly how I operate personally —and how I encourage my pilates/coaching clients (and anyone around me who will listen) who are feeling “stuck”. Getting a 1-2 minute workout done is the best way to feel like you’ve accomplished something – and it does snowball as I’m sure you’ve seen. If you haven’t checked out the book: One Small Step Can Change Your Life: The Kaizen Way, I think you’ll like it.

Very entertaining & enlightening. Looking forward to checking out the outsource-fitness vids!

  11. Hey Johnny,

    Two things:

    1. Youtube just upped their limit on videos to 15 minutes, just so you know.
    2. Thanks for reminding me of a college story involving a friend’s girlfriend, the British Virgin Islands, a dude named Thor and Thor’s hammer miulnar.

  12. Johnny says:

    I aim to please. :)

  13. Momekh says:

Let’s have some more examples of people making some ‘serious’ money – like Thor etc – to convince everyone, once and for all.

I mean, the concept of ‘Teaching Sells’ that B Clark is so ‘clear’ about, DOES work. But as you so eloquently put it, teaching to teach people to teach other people to teach so you get to make money, DOES NOT apply to net marketing ONLY.

But more examples, even a list, would make the post itself a link bait.
    :)
