The BlogWorld Daily Wrap-up for Thursday, June 7th

Today was the last day of BlogWorld & New Media Expo, so I’m closing out my job hosting the Virtual Ticket for this event. But really, after yesterday evening’s keynote announcement, I guess I should be calling it the “New Media Expo” because that’s BlogWorld’s new name. I like the name change. I thought I wouldn’t, but I do. The-Conference-Formerly-Known-As-BlogWorld isn’t just a blogging conference. It really is about all kinds of new media, with a particular focus on blogging, podcasting, and web TV.

So that was announced in yesterday’s evening’s keynote. It was more relevant (but less titillating) than what happened during Tuesday’s keynote, when someone in the audience stood up, took her top off, and ranted to the crowd.

This morning, I attended Corbett Barr’s session called “The Art of Writing Epic Sh*t” (The asterisk was actually in there. I’m not self-censoring.) I figured I was going to like the session, but he really blew me away. (This is really something you can learn, but it involves hard work. You have been warned.)

As I have over the past few days, I wanted to give you a couple of cool interviews we conducted on-site. So here we go:

First, I talked to Pat Flynn about how to implement passive income strategies without being sleazy. Pat is pretty much the opposite of sleazy. Check it out:

I also chatted with David Risley. David presented a session on monetization strategies, but what’s perhaps more important is that he’s the monetization track leader. Have a listen to get the goods:

Remember, these are only a small sample of the interviews we did, so if you want more of these — plus the entirety of BlogWorld’s conference session content — check out the Virtual Ticket. It goes way up in price after June 22, so sooner would probably be better.

So that was BlogWorld New York 2012. It was crazy fun and crazy informative. Awesome.

Maaan, I really wish I could have been there – so many cool people went, and it would have been an AWESOME opportunity to meet y’all !

Johnny, what’s your personal verdict of this event ?

Dude, I hope you come to the next one. It’d be great to meet you.

I thought it was great. I’m VERY hooked in, so I don’t know if that’d be everyone’s experience, but I loved it. (Hooked in = I know a ton of people and get all kinds of behind-the-scenes access.) I did attend a bunch of sessions this time, and they were all very good. Each time I go, I meet more people and reconnect with people I knew before. 100% coolness.

  2. How the heck did I miss the Tuesday night extra-special effects at the Keynote? I heard someone known as the human spammer grabbed the mic, which I also missed, probably due to having stepped out a few times to look for someone I had lost (my own little drama there lol). But I didn’t hear about Ms. Topless.

I shouldn’t have got the virtual version (just kidding) because it encouraged me to *gasp* blow off today, which is probably more due to attending festivities last night until late more than anything (blame Derek H), not to mention my almost 2-hour bus commute and some other stuff. Wish I could have met you. But hey–I met Chris Brogan, Derek Halpern, Pat Flynn, and Deb Ng–what more could a blogger want? Plus the great presentations, including David Risley’s (great stuff).

Bah now I’m pissed I skipped today but what can you do :) Looking forward to catching up with the virtual edition! Thanks for doing the work to make that happen plus the recent posts–have to spend some serious time catching up with it all!

I didn’t see it in person either… I just heard about it after the fact. Lisa and I were really backed up with Virtual Ticket stuff that night and I think people came back AFTER the keynote, while we were still working, and told us. Then they left and eventually the Javitz Center kicked us out.

Sounds like you had a great time! It really was a great conference. I’m biased, but I do truly think it was.

  3. Hey Johnny — I’m sorry I wasn’t able to attend, although I’ve loved following your updates. I’m thinking of coming to Vegas in January – are you going to that too?
