The best advice I can give anyone is the following:

Go backpacking. Solo. Don’t listen to your MP3 player. Just listen to your thoughts, the sound of silence, and the subtle sounds of nature.

Go out for as long as possible, work yourself as hard as possible and whatever you do, do not leave a trace. If you feel you aren’t getting enough exercise just during your day’s backpacking, do some trail maintenance, spread out some ashes left by a careless camper, etc.

Seriously, solo trekking is the most incredible thing you will ever experience.

Heh. I totally didn’t realize this is only a few weeks away. And you just convinced me to go to the whole kit-and-kaboodle AND get the virtual ticket. With the discount, it all comes out to the price of just attending (without the discount), so why not? Then I won’t miss a thing.

The deciding factor was when I looked at the map and saw that Port Authority is only a few blocks away from the convention center, and since I’m only an hour or so away, I’ll take the bus (cheaper than parking and less hassle!) and won’t even have to stay over.

Thanks for posting about this! Another day and the price goes up. And thanks much for the discount.

Yippee! Looking forward to it!!! Now have to check that my dog sitter is available! oops
